Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba is an American actress, model and celebrity. Some of her most recent movies include Sin City, Into the Blue, and Fantastic Four, all of which were released in 2005. She is also known for her role in the television series, Dark Angel, and has been a model and spokesperson for L’Oreal hair products.
Jessica Marie Alba was born on April 28th 1981 in Pomona, California to Mark Alba and Cathy Jensen. Her father worked in the Air Force and her family moved around the country several times before finally returning to Southern California. Some of the places she lived include Biloxi Mississippi, and Del Rio, Texas.
In addition to being on the move, Jessica Alba also suffered from a long list of ailments and diseases as a child that kept her in the hospital for long periods at a time. Some of the conditions she had include collapsed lungs, multiple bouts of pneumonia, appendicitis, a cyst, asthma, anorexia, a kidney infection, and eventually an obsessive-compulsive disorder. In spite of her frequent illnesses, Jessica was known for a rambunctious and fiery spirit.
Even as a child, Jessica aspired to be an actress. She took an acting class at the age of 12 and less than a year later had been signed on with a talent agent.
She made her big screen debut in the 1994 movie ‘Camp Nowhere’, a role that came to her when one of the originally planned actresses left the set suddenly. She was chosen as a replacement because her hair, then a dark brown, was the same color as the original actress.
In the following months she did commercials for both J.C. Penny and Nintendo, before playing a part in three episodes of the Nickelodeon production ‘The Secret World of Alex Mack’. She then went on to star in two seasons of the 1995 series ‘Flipper’. During her work on the ‘Flipper’ series, Alba was actually kidnapped, but was fortunately discovered unhurt in the trunk of a car.
She studied at the Atlantic Theatre Company for a time after graduating high school at age 16. In 1998 she made appearances in the shows ‘Brooklyn South’, ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, and ‘The Love Boat: The Next Wave’.
Jessica Alba’s fame grew significantly after appearing along side Drew Barrymore in the 1999 movie ‘Never Been Kissed’, and then in a starring role in the movie ‘Idle Hands’, also released in 1999. Her role on the ‘Dark Angel’ series then followed, and she was suddenly hugely popular and widely talked about young actress.
In the first few years of the new millennium, Jessica Alba’s acting career grew quiet, and it seemed her fame may have been declining. However, with her three 2005 releases, and an upcoming release scheduled for 2006, it appears we haven’t seen the last of Jessica as an actress.
